Welcome back, everyone, to the Visually Stunning Movie Podcast. This time out, we’re on to the second potential Fall/Winter season blockbuster:
DC and Warner Brothers are trying to build on the phenomenal success of the stand-alone Wonder Woman.
Can Batman/Bruce Wayne successfully unite this disparate group of heroes to battle the evil Steppenwolf? Can Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg save Superman and save the planet from obliteration?
(By the way: isn’t the planet in imminent danger of obliteration in all these superhero movies?)
I get the feeling we’re not all going to agree on this one, if history is any indication….
As promised, here’s our full review of this week’s–and maybe summer’s–blockbuster:
It’s no secret that we’ve been critical of DC’s cinematic efforts, up to this point, so how will Gal Gadot’s portrayal of one of their most beloved and valuable properties fare?
Hang on, cause it’s about to get all kinds of verbose up in here.
Hey, all! Mark and Jason here with our first reactions on
Ryan got us into a screening tonight (which we really appreciate, by the way), and we had to share our very first thoughts.
Tomorrow night, we’ll be recording our full review with all three of us, which is good, since we’ll have had a little time to process this and maybe be a little more objective, but hopefully this will give you an idea of what’s ahead.
Have a look:
It’s no secret that Jason and I have been critical of DC’s attempts to get their movie universe going, but always with the hope that they might get their act together and make the kind of movie that will finally get their collective train back on the right track.
It looks more and more as though they may have – finally – done that.
The new trailer for Wonder Woman is out.
What do we think?
Listen for yourselves.
[Apologies to everyone that Ryan isn’t in on this one. He is currently in New York on the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them press junket, and was exhausted last night after we finished talking about Doctor Strange.]
