FAN EXPO DALLAS Leverages Fandom to Benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation on World Parkinson’s Day

Proceeds from ticket sales and Onewheel XR ‘Hoverboard’ auction aim to help find cure for Parkinson’s disease

DALLAS, TX—On World Parkinson’s Day 2019, April 11, FAN EXPO DALLAS is putting the passion of their fans to good use through two charitable initiatives aimed at supporting The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research. On May 3, at a special cast reunion event: a completely custom Onewheel XR board, designed after the iconic hoverboard made famous by Back to the Future. This truly unique collector’s item will be signed by cast members Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Tome Wilson and James Tolkan.

Considered invaluable, all proceeds from the on-site auction of this this collectable will directly benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

“Immediately ahead of our event, An Evening with the Cast of Back to the Future on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m., we will offer attendees the opportunity to bid on this one-of-a-kind board generously created by our friends at OneWheel and signed by each member participating in the cast reunion in Dallas. This is the only one that is ever going to exist, so it really is a unique and exciting collectable so get those bidding arms ready,” said Andrew Moyes, Vice President of Fan Expo.

In addition to the auction, $5 from each FAN EXPO DALLAS admission ticket sold on World Parkinson’s Day will be donated to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Every fan who purchases a ticket will be directly supporting the Foundation to reach their ultimate goal: to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

He continued, “This year’s star-filled weekend at FAN EXPO DALLAS, from May 3-5, 2019 at the Dallas Convention Center is highlighting iconic figures, celebrities, films, comics, games and international fandom of all things pop culture. The fact that we are able to give back to the organizations that our fans and guests are supporting, is just one more way to keep engaged and conscious of the world around us.”

The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson’s today. Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

FAN EXPO DALLAS runs Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5, at the Dallas Convention Center (Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center) located at 650 S. Griffin St. Tickets are priced from $25-$129. Hours and information are available atfanexpodallas.com.
