I don’t normally go in for an-animal-sure-to-make-you-cry movie fare, but horse racing movies somehow always seem to sneak by my defenses (Seabiscuit, Secretariat…).
Dream Horse is likely no exception.
And it’s a British movie?! Dang it. I’m in.
From Bleecker Street, starring Toni Collette, Damian Lewis, Joanna Page, and Owen Teale, Dream Horse is directed by Euros Lyn.
Dream Horse tells the true story of Jan Vokes (Academy Award® nominee Toni Colette), a Welsh cleaner and bartender, who decides to breed and rear a race horse. She persuades her neighbors and friends to contribute financially to the scheme. The group’s unlikely investment plan pays off as the horse rises through the ranks and puts them in a race for the national championship.
Dream Horse is in theaters this Spring.
