Award-winning filmmaker Jessie McCormack wrote, directed, and stars in Piss Off, I Love You, inspired by her own experiences as an American living in the U.K.

All 6 episodes of the series were shot in London.

McCormack stars as Sandy, a currently unemployed American TV host, who gets a last minute call-up to host an English show about the differences between America and England.

The gags practically write themselves, because never have two nations had so much in common to be practically strangers.

I was able to screen the first 7+ minute episode, so, while I can hope the remaining 5 will maintain the level of humor of this one, I can’t guarantee it.

The first episode does have a decidedly liberal bent, in terms of its world-view (from both the English and American POVs), with McCormack constantly apologizing to random folks screaming at her about Donald Trump, with such deflections as “I didn’t vote for him!”

Also pilloried in the short run-time is Brexit, with the overall implication being that conservatives on either side of the pond are the greatest evil ever foisted upon mankind.

But, frankly, if you can separate art from artist, the jokes are objectively funny, because that’s what jokes are supposed to be. They’re supposed to offend someone, somewhere…

To quote John Cleese in a recent interview: “Can you tell me a woke joke?”

Nope. Neither can you, really.

So, unless you’re a completely humorless conservative, and especially if you’re a die-hard liberal, you will find something to laugh about in Piss Off, I Love You.

I hope I get to see the remainder of the episodes.

Piss Off, I Love You also stars Gaynor Howe, Rober Wilfort, Muzz Khan, Kira Howe, and Josie Howe.
