From writer/director Ryan Barton-Grimley, and fresh off it’s premiere at the Dances with Films film festival, it’s:

How about a quick synopsis, hmmm?

Synopsis:

Philip “HAWK” Hawkins doesn’t just dream about killing vampires… He eats, sleeps, drinks and freakin’ breaths it. After getting kicked out of the Army for staking a fellow soldier with a blunt two by four, Hawk almost dies of boredom working as a night security guard at a deserted warehouse in his hometown of Santa Muerte, California… USA.

Just when it looks like all Hawk‘s options in life have expired, filthy blood-sucking vampires appear and of course… Nobody freakin’ believes him! With his back up against the wall, his sweaty Karate Kid headband tied on tight, real tight, and hordes of blood-thirsty vampires closing in, Hawk enlists the help of the one person who kind of believes him… Revson “REV” McCabe, a dimwitted, vegan-pacifist groundskeeper. Together they join forces to save the whole entire freakin’ world.

Well… At least their hometown anyway.

Hawk and Rev is what director Barton-Grimley calls a “love-letter to my childhood and a more innocent and clueless time when everything seemed possible,” and it’s hard to disagree with that sentiment.

Inspired by films such as Shaun of the Dead, Tucker and Dale, and perhaps most importantly: Lost Boys, Hawk and Rev: Vampire Slayers will likely become one of those films that finds its true audience on video (be it disc or streaming), as the days of films like this one hitting big at the theaters are long gone…

But who knows? In this time of Covid, perhaps smaller films like Hawk and Rev can find a spot in the labyrinthine confines of your local multiplex, sandwiched between Rocky 32 and Jaws 16.

So, have a listen to the episode (the whole thing, or you’ll miss stuff), and stay safe out there.

Hawk and Rev  stars Ryan Barton-Grimley, Ari Schneider, Jana Savage, and Richard Gayler, and as soon as I know when you guys can see it, I will definitely let you know.
