Synopsis:

Beauty Blogger Alexa Landry only had one fear, plastic surgery. She ultimately had to face this fear when she was kidnapped with her friends by Dr. Cunningham, a deranged plastic surgeon who is obsessed with “beautifying” his victims.

What to say about Incision…?

Well, for starters, right out of the gate it feels… cheap. Lots of soap opera worthy dialogue, bland production value…

But the biggest thing about Incision is that is isn’t very good.

There’s no good place to start, since its inadequacies are intertwined, but here’s some of the high points for you:

There is a very nice bit of racism from our psychotic plastic surgeon about chopping the feet off the black guy because they didn’t want him to run away because, well, black people are fast.

There’s really no story here, at all, to hang the grotesqueries of the doctor’s “beautification” on. It does, instead, simply plop the viewer into this situation which, coupled with what I’m about to mention, ends in mutilation’s all-around.

And make no mistake: the surgical stuff is pretty disgusting, it’s gross, and coupled with the pointlessness of it all, in narrative terms, it simply slips into that most derided of horror sub-genres: torture porn.

But while said torture porn is disgusting, it’s not even pervasive enough throughout the film to really justify becoming too outraged by it.

Let not forget to mention the overall weirdness of the situation and supporting characters. They’re grotesqueries of their own, but seem to exist in their strangeness to apparently say “Look how weird this film is! Isn’t it amazing?”

But it’s not.

Instead, it’s weirdness for weirdness sake, torture for torture’s sake, with nothing to really care about, even in a campy, cult fandom kind of way.

It’s just not good, but if you must…
