Synopsis:

A man crash lands in rural Appalachia and awakens in the attic of a traditional Hoodoo practitioner. He desperately tries to break free from her dark magic and save his family from a sinister ritual before the rise of the blood moon.

You know the drill, so without spoiling too much of the actual episode, here’s some tidbits for you, along with some out-of-context quotes:

  • 2 of the most cringe-inducing scenes you’ll see this year. Fact.
  • “this movie is not Misery…. although….”
  • “That’s red flag number one.”
  • “I’m not quite Appalachia when I was growing up…”
  • “it’s slightly off-putting…it’s a great moment to watch…”
  • “It’s hard to know exactly what they’re thinking, though…”
  • “Loretta Devine is just as effective as Miss Eloise as Kathy Bates was as Annie Wilkes.”

Spell is in theaters now, and can also be watched on Vudu and Cineplex streaming services, although that may expand later.

Spell stars Omari Hardwick, Loretta Devine, Lorraine Burroughs, Hannah Gonera, Kalifa Burton, and John Beasley.
