Synopsis:

Following the tragic loss of their son, retired sheriff George Blackledge (Costner) and his wife Margaret (Lane) leave their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family in the Dakotas, headed by matriarch Blanche Weboy.

When they discover the Weboys have no intention of letting the child go, George and Margaret are left with no choice but to fight for their family.

We were kind of surprised by Let Him Go, we have to admit. A period piece family drama with Kevin Costner and Diane Lane?

This could have gone, not wrong, but simply bloated or overplayed based on the subject material.

So, as is the new norm, we’ll just say to listen to us yap about it, and consider these out-of-context pull-quotes from the discussion:

  • “Her name is not Martha.”
  • “At no point does it feel like they’re going to succeed.”
  • “Once you get to dinner…”
  • “who seems almost normal…”
  • “It’s ambiguously innocent…”

Let Him Go will be in theaters November 6.

Let Him Go stars Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Lesley Manville, Kayli Carter, Booboo Stewart, Jeffrey Donovan, Will Brittain, Ryan Bruce, Adam Stafford, Bradley Stryker, and Will Hochman.
