Demigod – Interview with Miles Doleac
95 Minutes, Not Rated
Written by Miles Doleac and Michael Donovan Horn
Directed by Miles Doleac
Synopsis:
Upon the death of her grandfather, a woman and her husband return to her birthplace in Germany’s Black Forest, only to find a terrifying secret awaits them.
I’ve seen a couple other films from Miles Doleac (The Dinner Party, The Historian), and enjoyed them, so I was pretty confident about Demigod going in.
And I wasn’t disappointed.
Rachel Nichols (not ESPN) is the lead, Robin, who inherits her grandfather’s (Karl, played by Jeremy London) home in the Black Forest. She travels there with her husband, played by Yohance Myles, and encounters Karl’s neighbor/friend, Arthur (Doleac) and his young daughter, Amalia (played wonderfully by Rachel Ryals–watch for her in the future).
Cryptic warnings and supernatural chicanery ensue (as they always do), and the full might and majesty of the Black Forest’s mythology is revealed as the Hunt begins. With a trio of witches and a couple of mortal hunters, the Demigod is revealed.
As I expected, I quite enjoyed Demigod, and I suspect you might, as well. With solid performances all the way around, especially from Rachel Ryals as Amalia, Demigod is a solid horror/supernatural entity, grounded in the relationships between family, and the effects of shared generational trauma.
Listen as director Miles Doleac and I talk about his latest effort: Demigod.
Demigod will release in select theaters on October 15 (Los Angeles; Boston; Seattle; Cleveland; Dallas; Detroit; New Orleans; Hattiesburg, MS; and D’Iberville, MS), as well as being available on most VOD services (iTunes, etc.), also.
Demigod stars Rachel Nichols, Yohance Myles, Jeremy London, Elena Sanchez, Mamon Pages, Lindsay Anne Williams, Christian Stokes, Tatiana Piper, Rachel Ryals, and Miles Doleac.
