Synopsis:

Alison, an aspiring architect, spends her evenings trying to make ends meet as a ride-share driver. While wrapping up her shift, she decides to take on one last passenger – only to find herself in unexpected danger when she discovers the mysterious stranger is not whom he appears to be.

Alison is cajoled into taking the fare against her better judgement, and when she discovers blood-stained jewelry and a gun in her passenger’s bag, she begins to fear that she may not make it out of this trip alive. Through a twisted and unsettling turn of events, Alison appeals to her enigmatic passenger for help. In over her head, she fights to get through the night by covering her tracks, avoiding the police, and ultimately discovering who her inscrutable passenger truly is.

Well, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by Endangered. What could have been a predictable little throwaway thriller turned out to be anything but.

Now to be honest, it did flirt with that for a while early on, but as we moved into the meat of the story, we started veering away from that.

As noted, a ride-share driver picks up someone who isn’t what he seems even from the get-go, and it just gets stranger from there, with theft, drugs, death, deceit…

But as in any good thriller, nothing and no one is what or who they seem at the beginning, and the slow reveal of who is what to whom is very well-constructed and presented.

I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone, but I have to say that the film as a whole doesn’t work without a couple of top-notch performances by Lizzie Zerebko as Alison the driver and Michael Olavson as The Passenger. His conveyance of a man with a secret and her portrayal of a woman in crisis (both personally and professionally) is what makes this thing tick.

Director Drew Walkup shapes these two fine performances into a dizzying display of fright and mayhem, which makes Endangered more than well worth your time to watch and enjoy.

Endangered is now available on VOD and stars Lizzie Zerebko, Michael Olavson, Edward Craig, and Ryan Forrestal.
