Synopsis:

In this high-octane action thriller, a cross-country road trip becomes a highway to hell for Brenda, her two kids and her brother Reggie. After witnessing a brutal murder, the family finds themselves in the crosshairs of a mysterious killer. Now alone in the New Mexico desert and cut off from any help, Brenda is pulled into a deadly fight to keep her family alive.

You ever see Duel? No Country for Old Men?

Then you’ve seen End of the Road.

But wait; that’s not all.

This film can best be summed up with the following statement: “It may be the End of the Road, but it’s definitely not the End of the Cliches.”

My God, this movie has them all.

Loss of a spouse? Check.

Loss of previous lifestyle/home? Check.

Kids hate you because you’re moving them across the country? Check.

Messed-up adult sibling helping you move because family? Check.

Honestly, this would have been a completely serviceable road-based family drama/action movie until it veered wildly into wildly racist fearmongering not once, but TWICE!

**Look, I’m not saying there aren’t some real assholes out in the big, wide world (because there are), but holy shit, this movie is ridiculous.**

And because Brenda (our mom) is able to slyly remind everyone in the car that her daddy was in the Army, so she moved around a lot, learned to hunt, fight, shoot, etc., we all know she’s going to be doing some serious stuff later in the movie.

Probably to the worst possible white folks you could conjure in the writing room.

Don’t get me wrong, though; Brenda could probably mess some folks up. Fact. And Latifah is already kicking ass as The Equalizer on TV, so that’s not the problem, either.

But once you add some mediocre dialogue, a mail-it-in performance from Beau Bridges (channeling his brother, Jeff, from Hell or High Water), and a mystery villain who isn’t, and you’re left with, well… a movie.

And that’s all End of the Road is: a movie.

That you can watch.

On your television.

If you want.

But you’ve already seen it. More than once.

End of the Road is available exclusively on Netflix starting September 9 and stars Queen Latifah, Chris Bridges (Ludacris), Beau Bridges, Mychala Faith Lee, Shaun Dixon and Frances Lee McCain.
