A historical epic that is based in alternate history of The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Mark and Ryan have often discussed films being “based on” or “inspired by,” but this one is a bit different in that its billing itself specifically as an alternate history.
And what a historical time to place a story.
Listen as the guys discuss the pros and cons of this approach and whether or not the movie benefits from it.
Not to mention whether or not you should see it.
The Woman King hits theaters on Sept 16 and stars Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Shiela Atim, and John Boyega.
