Sleep. Walk. Kill. – Review
87 Minutes, Not Rated
Written and Directed by Justin Miller

Sleep Walk Kill (Terror Films)

Synopsis:

If you sleep, you become one of them. News reports tell of an earth-shattering sound heard along the entire East Coast. Nobody knows where it came from. Nobody knows what it means. That night, people start walking in their sleep. And killing in their sleep. When the screaming stops and the blood dries up, the ones who are left have to work together to stay alive. Heads will roll, eyeballs will fly, but for EDGAR, hell is still just other people. His ex-wife, his parents and all his neighbors are hiding out at his house. And they’re even worse than the flesh-eating sleepwalkers.

I love it when a film like this hits my inbox. It tells you what it is, then doesn’t muck about and gets to it.

I’ll name drop the easy influences on this one for you really quickly: Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Day of the Triffid.

Neither of those is exactly replicated, but crucial ideas are, from the “you’re not you anymore” to the “somehow people are not affected.”

This is not a knock on this movie AT ALL.

I loved this one. It takes this premise and sticks to it. The various characters who wind up interacting with one another as they try to survive and/or beat whatever is happening is realistic, yet it’s played for laughs; not over-the-top laughs or slapstick, but good, solid “this is the funny bit about this situation” type laughs.

I hesitate to say too much, because the film is so short but it never feels rushed, while delivering both solid laughs and legitimate social criticism as our cast navigates this terrifying new reality in which they find themselves.

While not for everyone, Sleep. Walk. Kill. is most certainly for me, and if you’ve got a taste for the somewhat (but not totally) absurd, it just might be for you, too.

Sleep. Walk. Kill. is now available on digital and VOD and stars Ellen Boscov, Samantha Russel , Bill Reick, Darryl Charles, John Reshetar, Melanie Rosedale, Michael Baldwin, Bob Quintana , Raquel Watson, Ashlee Toll, and Zachary Uzupis.
