Synopsis:
Aj begins having dreams of his parents’ death. He decides to go back to the spot where they were killed, accompanied by his brother and his brother’s family. But legend has it there is something mysterious roaming these woods.
Another film based in the main character’s trauma. As a boy, Aj was orphaned and he was raised by his older brother, Max.
Now, plagued by dreams that seem to contradict what little he consciously knows/remembers about the incident, he decides to return to the place of their death (the titular Wolf Mountain) to see if he can break through the barriers of his subconscious and finally deal with the memory.
Accompanying him on this trip are his girlfriend, his brother, and sister-in-law.
Also on this mountain are a trio of bank robbers, led by Danny Trejo, who are trying to stay a step ahead of the law with their recent booty.
Finally, the legend of Wolf Mountain: a monster of some sort, whose mythology is questionable, appears and people begin to die.
Of course.
A fairly formulaic “killer in the woods” movie, this one suffers from a dearth of both the mythology of the Mountain and Danny Trejo, who makes every movie more entertaining.
By the time we reach the end, you’ll have likely guessed the identity of the killer, though their motivations are murky and somewhat clunkily explained.
Not a bad way to watch some folks die on a mountain, though, so there’s that. The design is fairly unique, as well.
The Curse of Wolf Mountain is available on Digital and On Demand and stars David Lipper, Tobin Bell, Danny Trejo, Keli Price, Eddie McClintock.
And remember, if the BEST thing you can say about a movie is that it’s “visually stunning,” then they’ve done something wrong.
