Piglady (Gravitas)

Synopsis:

A group of friends, while on a Christmas vacation to their family cabin in Southern Oregon, learn of a local rumor of an antisocial woman who allegedly murders people and feeds her victims to pigs.

It’s sad when a movie is supposedly based on true events (as this film purports to be) but you can tell that the basic premise has been co-opted and turned into something else.

In this case, what could have been a solid little horror movie about a woman who raises pigs (and possibly pot) who kills people and disposes of the bodies by feeding them to said pigs, is instead a nonsensical horror movie about a group of one-dimensional, cookie-cutter character stereotypes ranging from gun-toting former Marine to California trans woman and every point on the spectrum in between, along with a heaping helping dose of pontificating about toxic/real masculinity/manliness, abunch of stupid decision-making, and over a half-dozen motivationless killings.

Throw in a weird quasi-cult looking 5 second interval near the end that is neither set up nor explained afterwords and you’ve got the makings of a very disappointing 89 minutes.

This movie disappointed me on so many levels that it’s tough to identify which one was worst.

I think it’s the part between the opening and closing credits where the cast has to talk and move around. That part was really disappointing.

But the villain could have been so good…

Piglady is now available on digital platforms and stars Sandra Dee Tryon, Adam Ray Fair, Karri Davis, Liam Samuel Watkins, Alicia Karami, Lazarus Tate, Jeffery Hunter, and Shyvhan Storm.

And remember, if the BEST thing you can say about a movie is that it’s “visually stunning,” then they’ve done something wrong.
