Synopsis:
The cast of a film arrive to a wrap party, but someone has dressed up as the slasher in the film, and begins to stage their own kill scenes. One by one, the cast disappear until the true nature of the evening is revealed.
That’s a Wrap is based on a pretty standard bit of horror fare: people gathered are slowly killed off in increasingly creative and violent ways. Like most horror movies, sex is discouraged… violently… but that’s not the deciding factor in your fate.
Actors celebrating the end the production of a “masterpiece,” as described by the director, expose their petty differences and grievances, and all seem to have motive to kill… until it’s their turn to die.
Slowly and inexorably stalked by the killer from their film, each cast member provides a death on par with any other.
The cast here is pretty good, with Monique T. Parent and Sarah French doing the heavy lifting as their castmates fall away. Cerina Vincent leads the film off as one of the stars of the movie within the movie, embodying the jaded actress nicely.
As we reach what should be the ultimate reveal, we are treated to a couple extra surprises that tweak the formula just a bit. The implied meta-narrative of horror is reminiscent of the Scream franchise, though without the pop-culture self-awareness.
Still, a good time can be had as That’s a Wrap unwinds itself on the screen.
Check it out.
That’s a Wrap is available on Digtial and stars Cerina Vincent, Monique T. Parent, Sarah French, Gigi Gustin, and Dave Sheridan.
And remember, if the BEST thing you can say about a movie is that it’s “visually stunning,” then they’ve done something wrong.
