Cats of Malta - Review
Cats of Malta (Nexus)

Synopsis:

Cats of Malta takes audiences on a journey through the island’s colorful cat colonies, cat cafes, parks and streets to meet local volunteer feeders, business owners and artists whose lives are enriched by stray cats.

This one is easy.

If you’re an animal lover, then you are going to enjoy this look into the lives of the people of the island of Malta who have embraced the feral cat population and have dedicated themselves to feeding and caring for these furry little b*stards.

**Full disclosure: there are TWO furry little b*stards running around my house.**

Coordinating TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) programs, having fundraisers to help feed the feline populace, and even the island’s government embracing the idea of the cats into public spaces, Cats of Malta is a love-letter to humanity’s relationship with their not-quite-domesticated companions.

Where documentary efforts about dogs tend to focus on the negative–the truly feral nature of canines, roving packs, fighting, etc.–the solitary nature of our feline friends lends itself to a more easy-going look at the interactions between them and ourselves.

This makes Cats of Malta a much more palatable watch while simultaneously reminding humanity of our responsibility to those animals we have welcomed into our lives.

A very enjoyable looking to the lives of the Cats and their Humans, Cats of Malta is an easy recommend for human beings with souls.

Cats of Malta is now available on Amazon Prime Video.

And remember, if the BEST thing you can say about a movie is that it’s “visually stunning,” then they’ve done something wrong.
