You’ve known it’s coming, and now it’s here:
Director JJ Abrams returns to the director’s chair for this final entry in the saga of the Skywalker family.
If you recall, Abrams rebooted that “Galaxy far, far away” with The Force Awakens. After the somewhat uneven reception for Rian Johnson’s subsequent entry, The Last Jedi, Abrams returns in what many see as an attempt to “right the ship” of Disney’s $4 Billion IP acquisition.
Whether you feel the ship needed righting or not, let’s talk about how this final chapter plays out in as spoiler-free an atmosphere as we can, shall we?
The Rise of Skywalker stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Billy Dee Williams, Adam Driver, Carrie Russell, Kelly Marie Tran, and opens on December 20, 2019.
*Apologies for the audio. When I say Ryan and I are both out running around, I meant it. This was record via Skype over cell. Still a great discussion, though.
