Wow. Here’s an unusual little film that played at Sundance this year:
Amulet
This is the first feature length film for director Romola Garai, and stars Alec Secareanu as Tomas, an ex-soldier, now living homeless in London. After a fire tears through his squat, he is taken by Sister Claire (played by Imenda Staunton) to the home of Magda (Carla Juri).
As Magda is caring for her sick mother (living in the attic), Sister Claire hopes Tomas can help her fix up the house, which is decaying around them.
I mean… that’s what the movie is ostensibly about.
However, in the words of Samuel L. Jackson, “hang on to your butts.”
