Synopsis:
Filmed simultaneously in two different parts of a city, Last Call is a real time feature presented in split screen showcasing both ends of a wrong number phone call that has the potential to save a life.

Last Call follows a suicidal alcoholic on the anniversary of his son’s death. When he attempts to call a crisis hotline, a misdial connects him with a single mother working as the night janitor at a local community college. The split screen feature showcases both characters in real-time as they navigate a life-changing conversation.

I hesitate to say much more than is in the synopsis, as the story of Last Call needs to unfold in front of you for you to properly appreciate it.

The added presentation of the split screen is also something worth talking about, and I do, in the episode.

But I will tell you that Sara Booth is terrific as Beth, the harried, overworked, underappreciated, single mother, on whose shoulders rest the possible fate of a man who has all but given up.

Last Call is in Alamo Drafthouses today, and will expand to other chains starting on September 25.

Last Call stars Sara Booth and Daved Wilkins.
