A werewolf-obsessed game developer is launching his new online game (“Werewolves Awaken”)–and his lawsuit distracting lead programmer–at an exclusive party at his expansive estate, but the guests are going to get more than they planned for.
Beginning with a priest cursing the developer for his occult obsessions (which everyone is sure is a publicity stunt), to the appearance of several unexpected guests providing some interpersonal drama, to people being FUCKING SLAUGHTERED, Beast Within has something for everyone.
Sure, some of the dialogue is clunky, the performances wooden, and the premise absolutely ridiculous, but the actual werewolf bits are pretty gruesome, and who can resist Colm Feore chewing some scenery, even if it’s only for a few minutes?
Overall, Beast Within is a pretty pedestrian “people in a house get slaughtered” kind of movie, but there are werewolves, and lots of blood, so I’ll say that it’s an okay way to spend some time this holiday season (now that the season of horror is upon us).
Beast Within stars Steven Morana, Holly Deveaux, Ari Millen, Katie Boland, Art Hindle, Bobbie Phillips, Melissa D’Agostino, and features an appearance (or two) by Colm Feore.
