This Australian film tells the story of Jessie, a child psychologist who has heard the worst of the worst in terms of things that can be done to children.

Overwhelmed by the weight of her patients’ lives (and possibly an event tied to someone close to her), and disturbed by the legal system’s perceived lack of ability or willingness to “properly” deal with pedophiles, she takes it upon herself to track down and kill those who are released from prison after unacceptably short sentences.

But when a former patient comes to her and reveals he lied about one of her victims, Jessie is forced to confront herself and decide how to deal with her newest charge, an abused woman who got off by claiming she was victimized by her boyfriend into helping him abuse children.

But is she lying?

Meanwhile, the cops are getting closer to figuring out that someone is killing and disappearing pedophiles, as Detective Swan has convinced herself something nefarious is afoot.

All in all, Guilt is a pretty decent thriller: a nice motivation, a decent twist, and an ending that will surely ruffle a few feathers, depending on your cinematic and narrative tastes.

But, I’ll recommend it to you.

It’s not too shabby at all.

Guilt stars Janet Shay, Hayley Flowers, Sandra Stockley, Tom Wilson, Raelee Hill, David Woodland, Kirsty McKenzie, Craig Walker, and Michael Matthews.
