Spider-Man: No Way Home – Movie Review

Synopsis:
With Spider-Man’s identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
This is a hard piece to write, because we certainly don’t want to be spoiling anything for people who are (and have been) looking forward to this film for some time.
Let’s start simple, then. Picking up exactly where Spider-Man: Far From Home ended, with Peter Parker being outed as Spider-Man by J. Jonah Jameson after being set-up by Mysterio.
Life, as you might expect, goes downhill quickly for Peter Parker and everyone associated with him: MJ, Ned, Aunt May, Happy.
Try having a normal senior year of high school when you’re accused of (but cleared of) murder charges. It takes an excellent lawyer to pull that off.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. Still fighting for some sense of the normality he had in that brief interlude between the battle against Mysterio and his exposure as Spider-Man, he reaches out to Dr Strange for help of the time-traveling kind to stop his identity from being revealed.
But the Time Stone is gone, destroyed and/or returned to the past, so no can do on that front. (Although Strange still wears the Eye of Agamotto, which is empty now, so does it have some other, non-Time Stone-related powers, or does it just complete his ensemble? But I digress)
Another plan is hatched with Strange (who plays the Tony Stark role from Homecoming as Peter’s mentor/periodically appearing senior member) to help rectify the situation, but it goes awry.
And then… we get in to spoilery territory, which is not where we want to go.
So we won’t.
Instead, let’s talk about impressions.
If you are excited to see this film, you’ll be excited coming out. There is nothing in this to really dislike if you’re open to a little fun and fan-projection. Holland continues to embody this iteration of Peter Parker with youthful exuberance paired with a lack of long-term strategic thinking sometimes.
Which is why things happen here.
It’s a fun ride filled with things we can’t share because spoilers, but despite a little “rickety” (Ryan’s word) opening bit, the film should appease all the Marvel fans out there.
