Synopsis:
Celebrating the joy of being back together with your best friends and a perfectly executed shot to the dingdong, the original jackass crew return for another round of hilarious, wildly absurd, and often dangerous displays of comedy with a little help from some exciting new cast. Johnny and the team push the envelope even further in Jackass Forever.
Let me be clear about jackass forever:
Nothing I can say or write will change anyone’s mind about this film. If you already love this band of idiots, then you’ll love this latest feature-length collection of their stupidity.
If you aren’t, you won’t.
That’s not to say you won’t laugh at times, of course. Because you will. But it doesn’t mean that this is comedy, at all. It simply means that you aren’t laughing at any inherent comedy, but more at the fact these fuck-wits are continuing to do this garbage to themselves for no purpose.
This isn’t Tom Cruise breaking his leg doing a stunt to further a larger cinematic narrative, or a moto-cross racer injuring themselves in a race.
No; this is simply a dozen or so of God’s forgotten children asking themselves “how can I hurt my friends today, and get them to agree to let me film it?”
Opening with a skit involving a city-destroying lizard monster that is actually a–and I can’t believe I’m writing these words–painted penis with puppet arms, the gags don’t get any better from there.
And there are more than a few gags, if you know what I mean…
Most of these bits feel more mean-spirited than jocular, as if the various cast members are working out secret frustrations they have against one another by torturing each other.
Over and over again.
Usually involving testicles.
It’s just… stupid.
There, I said it.
It’s stupid.
The jackass crew is a collection of people who never matured past the age of 12, and who continue to churn out material designed to appeal to the 12-year-olds in the audience. An audience who thinks this is cool and who will, despite Johnny Knoxville’s warnings (both pre- and post-film) attempt some of these stunts at home, and perhaps even try to ramp them up a notch.
And put them on YouTube.
This will not end well.
jackass forever hits theaters this Friday, February 4.
