Neither Confirm Nor Deny - Review
Neither Confirm Nor Deny (Obscured)

Synopsis:

During the Cold War, the CIA secretly raised a sunken Soviet nuclear submarine from the depths of the Pacific Ocean.

The six-year operation included an intricate cover story by billionaire Howard Hughes. Drawing on declassified documents and never-before-seen interviews, NEITHER CONFIRM NOR DENY tells one of the highest-stakes yet least known stories of the Cold War.

I love history. So much so that I minored in it while I was getting my English degree.

But I digress.

The synopsis for Neither Confirm Nor Deny gives you the basics, but it’s watching the entire thing play out over the 93 minute runtime that is the real fun.

Sometimes it feels like you’re watching a Tom Clancy film adaptation, sometimes it’s like a bit of extended news coverage (especially when Watergate happens). To find out “how the sausage is made” in terms of covert operations is always fun, and this one is no exception.

It’s also alarming that such a clandestine part of the government can expend such money and effort with seemingly no oversight or accountability from anyone. We all know it happens, we all hate that it happens, but to watch the sheer gall of those who run these organizations can quite honestly make you rethink the possibility of a “deep state” of rogue bureaucrats behind the scenes.

Really.

Enlightening, frustrating, and often comical, Neither Confirm Nor Deny will do both things to what you think you know and more importantly to what you believe.

Neither Confirm Nor Deny is getting releasing on Amazon and Apple TV on September 22.

And remember, if the BEST thing you can say about a movie is that it’s “visually stunning,” then they’ve done something wrong.
