You Can See Everything
Review by Mark Woodring
Visionaries, those who offer advancements far beyond what might be expected, are often lauded beyond sense.
While some might actually be able to live up to those initial hopes, a great many of those visionaries eventually fail to provide the promised advancements simply because they turned out to be undeliverable.
Then there are those who fall into the category of “fraudsters.” These are people who promise and promote advancements they know are impossible, but do so solely for the accumulation of wealth.

174 Minutes, Rated R
Directed by Nathan Fielder, Lance Oppenheim
Synopsis:
Thirty-four days before she’s sent to prison, notorious Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move. What begins as an intimate portrait becomes a mind-bending three-year journey.
Elizabeth Holmes was one such visionary, lauded for the promise of cheap, fast, accurate blood testing, but who ultimate was tried and convicted of fraud.
But is it that simple? Is Elizabeth Holmes a Machiavellian villain or an exploited genius?
This is the central question being presented to the viewers of You Can See Everything.
Honestly, watching this documentary made me question my sanity as I struggled to absorb and interpret what all was being said, not being said, and the general vibe of the film and it’s subject(s).
And I mean that in a good way.
Look, if I mention too much, I’ll spoil the experience of watching this, and it’s important that you go in as blind as possible so You Can See Everything going on.
(See what I did there?)
Easily in my top-3 documentaries for the year, this one will ultimately feel unsatisfying, because you, like me, consider yourself as having a highly-evolved BS detector.
And this film will have it going off for the vast majority of the runtime of the film, but you’ll be frustrated that you won’t be able to 100-percent determine where the stench is coming from.
So yes, I recommend this one whole-heartedly.
You Can See Everything hits theaters Friday, October 16, and stars Elizabeth Holmes, Billy Evans, Nathan Fielder, and Amanda Seyfried.
And remember, if the BEST thing you can say about a movie is that it’s “visually stunning,” then they’ve done something wrong.
